Elder's Meditation

"If we keep everything in balance, we are in harmony with ourselves and are at peace."

...Fools Crow, Lakota

As within, as without, our present thought determines our future.  If we want peace outside ourselve, we must first have peace inside ourselves.  It's not what is going on but how we are looking at what is going on.  We need to keep ourselves in balance.  We must be careful to not get too hungry, angry, lonely or tired.  We must know the times - time to work, time to rest, time to play, time to sleep, time to pray, time to lighten up.  there is a saying " The honor of one is the honor of all."  This means when we work with all, we need to also work on one.  We need to take care of ourselves.  You cannot give away what you don't have.

Great Spirit,

Let me walk in balance today.  Remove from me resentment, self pity and self seeking motives.  Let me love myself so I can love my neighbors.

Emotions

Emotion is
energy in motion. Strong feelings we experience are an important aspect of health. They are the tools we use to create our existence. These emotions are normal and healthy when they are flowing. Our feelings affect the electromagnetic field that surrounds us. The body is like a giant circuit board.  Every cell in our body responds to every thought we think and every word we say. The body is a storehouse of memory. Emotions can change and slow down the vibration of life when they are negative and constant. When negative emotions are expressed, we give our power away. Continuous modes of negative thinking and speaking produce body behaviours where dis-ease will exist and advance. Shallow breathing and low blood fuel levels will also interfere with the flow of emotions. Holding on to negative emotions will upset the chemical balance in the body.

Feelings radiate certain vibrations. Positive thoughts create light airy feelings, while negative thoughts create heavy, dense vibrations. A common misuse of this energy is the constant verbalization of certain negative statements such as "I'm sorry", "I hate" or "I'm afraid" which act as a mantra in reverse. So often we cannot see our mental patterns. We must become aware of these patterns which are constantly creating our reality. We must listen to what we are saying. It is important to seperate our physical and emotional bodies from the belief system which has kept us in limitations. Our limiting beliefs are only thoughts and thoughts can be changed. Emotion will continue to have power over us until they are released and redirected. When these feelings are positively transformed we can create the future. At this point, healing is inevitable.

In the healing process, it is important to forgive ourselves and others. These are issues involving forgiveness in all families. Learning forgiveness provides the tools to break the chains of dysfunctional family behaviour. Only when we forgive our elders, can we really begin to heal. Our emotions travel with the soul and  never leave the family. By identifying and releasing false beliefs and traumatizing life experiences since birth, we take major steps to be free from emotional distress and negative compulsions. People who know who they are cannot be controlled.

The solution is to first get out of denial. It takes great courage to face the truth and to allow the intellect to flow through the heart instead of the mind. This heart connection can be a source of new information and inspiration. To begin to express these heart messages practice meditation. Emotional recognition brings new levels of awareness within the Self. With the spiritual understanding of this process of integration, this lifetime's experiences will begin to make sense. As we consciously experience this process of healing, we can begin to understand our life purpose and the reason why. Our sense of security begins to be restored as we become a participant in creating our own reality. When we transform our emotions, we activate certain strands of our electrical circuitry. When this occurs there is a dynamic awakening and energy shift in our physical and emotional bodies. This interconnectedness is required for us to experience the next global shift of consciousness we are now beginning to experience. The high quality of our physical and emotional vibration magnetizes positive experiences to ourselves and spreads the light to others. What we are thinking now is creating our future. Now is the time to activate our spiritual potential.

Emotions are stored in the body. When emotions are blocked they will vibrate to a corresponding organ system. Stress is felt in the stomach and intestines first. Emotions control the size of the small arteries and effect change in blood circulation. The emotional brain maintains the immune system and the body's capacity for healing itself.

We all occasionally experience the emotions of sadness, anger, fear and frustration. When these feelings are kept inside, they operate invisibly for a time. Then these unexpressed feelings come to the surface. For example; sadness is expressed by tears, whether they are released or not, the tears exist. When the sadness is internalized and not expressed, it stays inside as moisture and swellings of the body occur, and weight is gained. These emotions, when habitual, are capable of starting changes in the body. Emotions are important and must be kept moving through the mind for wellness to be maintained. They only become a problem when they are not acted upon or held onto longer than necessary.

Language is the link between the body and the mind. Phrases like "that breaks my heart," "it's a pain in the neck" and "I just love it to death" hinder wellness and create imbalance. By listening to what we are saying we can eliminate dis-ease causing thoughts. Anxiety leads to fear, which is galvanized by conflict. Sadness rises when grief is held. Depression mounts when the view of the future is blocked.

One technique we can use to release stuck emotional energies involves combining proper deep breathing, feelings and attention in a ritual of constant purification, When you find yourself locked into a particular emotional rut, quickly center and begin concentrating on deep breathing, which will act as a pump to keep the process moving, and to eliminate automatic thinking. The process can be delightfully enhanced with creative visualizations by picturing in your mind a column of white light or a field of daisies, breathing in a rainbow through the nose, etc. This activity will help to let go of the stuck thought. Our challenge as an individual is to create the conditions that allow the Universal Life Force to flow through us without hinderance

Emotion/Muscle Relationship
The structure of the body is a graphic expression of our physical, emotional and mental state. It reveals past experiences, present personality and feelings unexpressed.  It stands to reason that when the misuse of our mind actually creates a malfunctioning body, then the proper use of our consciousness can create a harmoniously performing body.  There is a muscle/emotion relationship. When emotion is not expressed or released properly, it will migrate to specific areas. This blocked emotional energy will manifest as muscle soreness.

Love

Love is an affirmation of the Universal energy that flows through us. Unconditional love and creativity are the driving forces of Life. When we carry fear, worry or anger in our minds we cannot really feel or demonstrate the energy of unconditional love, which is the greatest force on the Planet. When our awareness resides in our hearts, we transcend the negative emotions and begin to heal ourselves. Developing a sense of reverence and awe is what will free us from our addictive and destructive behavior patterns of the past. The most important responsibility we have during this lifetime is to love ourselves. We cannot change until we begin loving ourselves. We cannot love others until we love ourselves. We must learn to see the good, especially in ourselves and to be tolerant of ourselves. We must accept ourselves just as we are and then allow ourselves to
grow from that point in a gradual step by step approach. In this way, we become a purer channel of expression for our own highest spiritual ideal. Unconditional love and happiness serve as master keys to open the doors to social progress. Whether or not the goal of evolution is achieved depends on us. Love yourself enough to not be a victim anymore.

Begin the healing with forgiveness, then love will flourish. True forgiveness is a conscious choice to open ourselves to the truth of who we are. Forgiveness is the quickest way to freedom. It is a commitment to setting ourselves and others free of the limitations of our past perceptions. It is a chance to start anew. The ability to forgive is a great gift we can give to ourselves. With forgiveness the wounds are healed. Anytime we can eliminate what is not true in our lives, we clear space to allow what is true for us to enter into our hearts and minds. The process of forgiveness is freeing ourselves to receive what we want most in our lives, to give and receive love.

Foods That Nourish Your Chakras

Eating natural and organic foods is a practical and necessary discipline of life that everyone can observe with great pleasure. It restores health and harmony to the body, mind, and spirit. This is essential for joyful living. It is very simple in practice. What is natural is determined by taking into consideration both the innate biological needs of the human body and the needs that are superimposed by the environment such as weather, altitude, types of activity and the time of the year.  Our body is made from what we eat. We become what we take in to our bodies, physically and mentally. Improper eating causes a considerable amount of stress on the body. The education of the correct menu is one of the biggest tests of our egos. Confidence and self-discipline are the only requirements. Give  up everything that is not absolutely necessary to your life and you will experience freedom, health, and happiness as never before. Without health it is very hard to do anything.

When we want to live in the Land of Paradise, we must begin to eat the foods of paradise: fresh fruits and vegetables.

Basically eating is replacing the essential minerals and biochemical elements that our own bodies cannot manufacture: vitamins, cofactors, essential fats and amino acids, and all (hopefully) constituents for life. Although our bodies recover most of their replacement needs, constant losses occur.
We replace our losses by consuming chlorophyll life forms that live on sunlight, or a portion of them, such as fruits, grains, roots, tubers, flowers, stems and leaves. Some of us plant eaters then feed the carnivores who are capable of digesting animal substance.

So fruits and vegetables are our best source of life essence when fresh; vitamin, mineral, protein and carbohydrate fuel when preserved. Vegetables also cause no elimination problems and, if a variety are eaten, produce balanced amino acid nutrition. The complete oils pressed from olives, soybeans and other seeds require no refining and, if unheated, will provide ample essential fats required for normal fat metabolism.

•        Fresh is best/always in season, and raw is preferred for some vegetables.
•        Once oil or fat has been heated it is inedible  drain everything you fry!
•        Pasteurized butter and margarine (plastic fat) have been heated before you bought it.
•        Important water soluble fats (lecithin) are destroyed by heating which leaves a non-soluble residue (cholesterol) that will clog  your arteries. Cooking also destroys native vitamin C. However most of the vitamin B group are in hot soup and garlic has a vitamin C-like effect of its own. Vegetable broths still contain a  major part of the initial nutrient value. Mixed vegetable and bean soups are all-purpose nutrition staples among the healthiest cultures and their spices are medicinal.
•        Cravings represent mineral deficiencies and are usually associated with a deficiency of energy in a specific meridian, e.g. thyroid or stomach.
•        Mineral deficiencies associate with refined sugar consumption, including starches and alcohol. Coffee ties up calcium. Prepared foods are mostly inadequate.
•        The richest edible source of mineral is sea kelp or dulce and is outstanding in soup and sauces. Use it as an all-purpose spice.
•        Herbs and spices bring medicines into our diet to bring the body to balanced function.
•        The study of good nutrition will take the student quickly to older cultures from around the world, who live simply, and eat naturally. Imitate only the healthiest.

The advantages of adequate nutrition on overall health are undeniable. The daily benefits are less discussed but equally important. A steady supply of energy throughout the day makes for efficiency and clear headedness, and avoids emotional dysfunctional outbursts due to fatigue and inattention to personal responsibilities.

Our youth and beauty culture has idolized slimness and popularized many misconceptions about eating. First of all, not eating is harmful, low blood sugar brings confusion and bizzare behavior. Eating the wrong things such as stimulants and sugars disturbs the control mechanisms that smooth the blood sugar levels. Frequent small meals rich in minerals, proteins and healthy fats are a much better approach to weight control and an appealing personality.
